Jim Mercurio is an author, screenwriter, and filmmaker. He has directed or produced five feature films and helped countless writers as a teacher and story analyst. He produced Hard Scrambled, starring Kurtwood Smith (That ’70s Show), which won best dramatic feature at the Garden State Film Festival. He wrote and directed the bonus material for its DVD release—a two-hour seminar on making indie films—which the Washington Post called “a must for would-be filmmakers.”

Jim wrote the first ever screenwriting book focusing solely on scene writing: The Craft of Scene Writing: Beat-by-Beat to a Better Script, and has directed more than forty DVDs on the craft of screenwriting.

As a screenplay consultant, he has Emmy- and Oscar-winning clients.
